Dave Gillespie

Mr. David A. Gillespie was named Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aleut Management Services in August 2010.  To this position, Mr. Gillespie brings extensive experience in executive management, strategic planning, and business advisory and consulting services.

Mr. Gillespie serves as president and chief executive officer for DAG Associates, LLC, a specialty consulting firm that provides strategic advisory services and contract negotiation support to utility and public sector clients.  Mr. Gillespie also is a member of the Board of Directors of Unico Mining, Inc., a development-stage precious metals mining company.  He is a principal of Gridflex Energy, LLC, a company formed to develop pumped hydro and compressed air energy storage projects.  Previously, Mr. Gillespie served as president and chief executive officer of New Generation Biofuels Holdings, Inc., and vice president of Business Development and Asset Management of Duke Energy Corporation.

Mr. Gillespie received his Master of Business Administration from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Hartford, Connecticut, and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Massachusetts.

Morris Shepherd is currently a financial consultant and certified public accountant with a career spanning over 35 years in Alaska. In recent years, he held the position of financial vice president and board member for Reeve Aleutian Airways, serving the communities of the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. Mr. Shepherd’s experience with Alaska Native Corporations goes back to the early days of ANCSA, where as a CPA with a national accounting firm, he served as a member of the financial audit team for a number of Alaska Native Corporations and later as a tax manager handling ANCSA issues with the IRS.

Mr. Shepherd holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Washington and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a Vietnam war veteran, having served as a U.S. Navy Supply Officer. He has served on a variety of public service boards including as chairman and treasurer of the Alaska Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and board member and treasurer of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Alaska.

Major General (Ret.) Jacob "Jake" Lestenkof has been a member of the AMS Board since 2005 and serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board. In addition to his military service, Jake served as Alaska's Adjutant General and as Commissioner of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs for four years. Mr. Lestenkof has served as the Federal Regional Director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs for Alaska. He also served as the Deputy Commissioner of Alaska's Department of Regional and Community Affairs. He is a retired member of the Federal Senior Executive Service.

He resides in Anchorage, Alaska with his wife, Sherry Valentine.

Joe Kashevarof currently owns Financial Alaska Accounting, LLC, which provides accounting services for rural and Alaska Native organizations throughout the State of Alaska.

Prior to Financial Alaska Accounting, Joe was employed as an accounting manager at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). He graduated from the University of Alaska-Anchorage with a degree in Accounting.  Joe also served as a board member of The Aleut Corporation and his local village corporation.

Joe Kashevarof is from St. George Island, Alaska. His parents, Andronik Jr. and Sharon Kashevarof, also were born and raised on St. George. He currently lives in Anchorage with his wife Shannon and their two children.

Alvin Osterback
Director

Mr. Alvin D. Osterback was named Director of the AMS Board of Directors in August 2010.  As Port Director for the City of Unalaska, Mr. Osterback also serves as technical advisor to the Aleut Marine Mammal Commission, and is a member of the Department of Commerce Marine Protected Areas Advisory Committee.  Previously, he served as Vice President of The Aleut League during the formation of The Aleut Corporation and subsequently served as a member of the TAC Board of Directors.

Mr. Osterback was elected Mayor of Sand Point and served two terms. He served 12 years on the Aleutian East Borough Assembly and held other leadership positions on a variety of committees, including the Department of Commerce Marine Fisheries Advisory Committee and the Aleut Marine Mammal Commission.

Mr. Osterback’s extensive background in management, planning, and business development enables him to understand the fiduciary responsibilities of ensuring financial strength and future growth of the company for the Aleut Shareholders.  As a lifelong Alaskan, Mr. Osterback is originally from Sand Point, Alaska.  He and his wife Peggy have four sons: Alvin, Jr., Vincent, Aaron, and Shawn.
